Are vitamin and mineral treatment courses necessary ?  - (19/09/2006)

Rations rich in cereals have an unbalanced mineral content.
Excess phosphorus prevents calcium from binding
It is essential that the daily ration contains between 150 and 200 grams of a mineral feed specially designed for horses, such as HORSE MINERAL CAB 8/16 in the HORSE LINE range.
When balanced feeds are used, mineral supplements do not have to be used each day, due to the mineral content already present in the feeds.
However, one-month treatment courses are recommended during difficult periods (unfit horses) such as autumn (growth of the winter coat) and in the spring (shedding of the winter coat), together with a one-month treatment course during the summer for horses undergoing very sustained work.
Never give your horse minerals which have not been specifically designed for the equine species.
