It is the result of crossing Oldenburgs and East Friesians with heavy Friesian mares. He has also been influenced by Suffolk Punchs and Norfolk Roadsters stallions. He was instrumental in the development of the Warm-blooded Dutchman. It is now gradually being replaced by the Gelderland.
