The Furioso horse

The Furioso or Furioso-North Star owes its name to two English Thoroughbred stallions, Furioso, introduced in 1841, and a Thoroughbred containing Norfolk Roadster blood, North Star, in 1844, at the Mezôhegyes Stud in Hungary. The stud had been founded in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II of Habsburg. Mated with Hungarian Nonius mares, these stallions produced Anglo-Hungarian half-breeds that acquired homogeneity through inbreeding. Purebred infusions are always carried out.
