The Murgese horse

The Murgese or Murgie horse is the result of crossbreeding horses from the Marges region of Puglia, Italy, with Arabian and Barbe stallions. This saddle horse, threatened with extinction, was saved in the 1930s, but today’s Murgese is certainly different from the ancient type.
